Story by Danny Fritts • Photos by Bob Whitaker and Rose State ![]() This month’s feature athlete is Raider Casey Wojcak. Wojcak’s position is outfield and her number is 11. What is one strength of the team heading into the season? “One strength our team has heading into the season is our drive and competitiveness; we’re always giving it 110 per- cent and never giving up. We want to win and are willing to work for it any way possible.” What are some differences between playing in high school and playing in college? “Playing in high school and college are two completely different worlds. In college it’s more structured and more work. They’re paying for your school so you have to maintain standards and work hard in the classroom and on the field. The conditioning and practice is harder. The season is long so it’s more self-discipline, I believe.” What are the difficulties of managing the life of a student-athlete? “Student-athlete life is tough, but rewarding. It takes lots of balance between class; workouts and practice are time-consuming, but winning games and making lifelong friends along the way is worth it.” RSC Softball opened the season at home as they took on Indian Hills on Tuesday, Feb. 6.
